Still Here

We haven't died, or fallen down a well. We're just both waaaay too busy. Sonia's still studying for that exam in June. I'm swamped with work through May. I took a day off on my birthday last week, and opted to paint the dining room (at Sonia's suggestion).

She saw how antsy I was over breakfast, with the prospect of a free day. If I didn't have something to keep my hands busy, I'd end up on the computer, working. So she set me off to buy paint.

The living room used to be a dark red, which was lovely during the christmas season, with our green living room. Now, it's a darker shade of that living room's green color. I'll take a photo soon, and post it here.

Next room to get fresh paint: The purple bathroom (sorry, Lyndsay!). But probably no time soon.

Getting Fired Up

Fire

This weekend Amy and I realized we hadn't enjoyed our fireplace in the new house yet. We unsuccessfully tried to buy some wood from the local Safeway at around 11pm on a Saturday, so we threw one of those thermo-starter-logs in and watched a very pitiful flame for about an hour before we went to bed.

The next day, however, we purchased our wood and Amy got a roaring fire going so the family could enjoy nice evening at the hearth.

D.C. in the House!

Dome

Shawna and Jen have arrived from their cross-country road trip! They are staying with Amy and me until they find jobs and a place to live.

Aside from an unfortunate car prowl where someone stole a few boxes of their belongings in the now-despised state of Nebraska, they arrived unscathed. (If you know someone in Omaha who recently acquired a big box of socks, let us know!)

We look forward to many adventures and big family dinners in the house while they are here.

Welcome, Sonia!

No longer content to sit on the sidelines, Sonia's going to blog here too. I doubt she'll be as long winded as I am.

Favorite Childhood Photo

My mom's been scanning old photos and sending them along. This past week, I got the 1980-1989 years—childhood.

This one's circa 1983, when I was three years old. Makes me wish I was in a band, so I could use this as album art.
